Summary of the project

The project PFMM (ANR 2005) aims at developing reconfigurable (SDR) equipment able to communicate through at least 2 Radio Access Technologies using two different frequency band and providing a wide access to our results for the R&D community (French and International).

The work in PFMM is mainly a software work, which will be integrated to the IDROMEL harware platform.  Those software components will be integrated  in order to provide a realistic SDR radio access network, which will be validated through experimentations in Sophia Antipolis (France).

Among the targeted standards in the project, we can distinghish on one hand OFDM-type modulations, and on the other hand WCDMA-type modulation.

The main expected achievements of the project are :

  • an open source validation platform for hardware and software processing blocks (layer 1 and 2)
  • a IPv6 based network architecture with quasi-optimal mobility and QoS management
  • some connectivity tests with the Wimax Standard
  • realistics demonstrations and trials

Finnally, numerous outcomes are expected from this project in many fields, since our platform will be a very powerful validation tool for studies in SDR, cognitive radio, Flexible spectrum management techniques, ...
