Our projects > IDROMEL

 Overall description

The project IDROMel (ANR 2005) aims at developing reconfigurable (SDR) equipment able to communicate through at least 2 Radio Access Technologies using two different frequency band and providing a wide access to our results for the R&D community (French and International).

In order to reach those objectives, an open experimental Software Designed Radio platform is developed, including Hardware (Flexible Radio Frequency boards, Base Band) and Software (drivers, flexible protocol stacks) devices.

All those components will be integrated in a coherent way in order to provide a realistic SDR radio access network, which will be validated through experimentations in Sophia Antipolis (France).

The SDR equipment and software will be open, and the partners of IDROMEL will provide:

  • the access to the developed software through a GPL-like license (General Public License)
  • the access to the developed hardware through the duplication "at cost" for the R&D community.

Numerous outcomes are expected from this project in many fields, since our platform will be a very powerful validation tool for studies in SDR, cognitive radio, Flexible spectrum management techniques, ...
